Instructions for ALL Presenters

Requirements for ALL Submissions:  

Policies for Accepting Papers and Suggestions 
The Program Committee will be guided in the selection of papers, seminars, short courses, and posters by the following criteria:  (1) Quality, (2) Distribution of subject matter, timeliness, popular demand, etc., (3) Program balance (i.e. basic, applied research, poster, sessions etc.), and (4) Broad-based membership participation
Convention Registration Policy
  Call for Paper submission presenters are required to register for the NJSHA Convention. We do appreciate the time and effort it takes to prepare and present a session. In recognition of this, a special presenter registration rate of $150 has been established (compared to the normal registration rate of $250). Please note that submission of the following Call for Papers, is acknowledgement of the required registration policy. 
Please note that the special rate applies only to session presentation and not to poster presentations.
Audiovisual Equipment
Audiovisual Equipment Needs must be indicated on the form below.  Additional AV requests on-site will not be arranged for or paid for by NJSHA. Only those AV items listed on the form will be provided by NJSHA.  Any additional items required will be the responsibility of the presenter to arrange with the hotel and make payment for.  NJSHA will not provide laptops OR Internet for any presentations or AV equipment for poster sessions.
 For presentations requiring LCD Projectors, please note that LCD projectors are provided for basic power point presentations.  If you would like to include either sound or video in your presentation, you must contact the NJSHA Office at least one month prior to the convention to determine if appropriate equipment is available.  All AV requests are subject to approval by the Convention Committee.  Approval of AV requests will be provided in the Presenter Confirmation Notification.

MAC Users - Please note that AV companies are equipped for PCs.  If you are planning to use a MAC with an LCD projector, you must bring the appropriate cords to adapt your MAC to the PC LCD cords.

Handouts
NJSHA will place presenter’s handouts on the NJSHA website prior to the convention.  This will permit attendee’s to print those handouts for sessions they plan to attend prior to arriving at the convention.  The deadline for submissions of Handouts for placement on the NJSHA website (and availability at the convention)  is March 19, 2012.  Handouts must be received via electronic mail to the NJSHA Office (hard copies and faxes can not be accepted.)  Presenters who do not provide handouts to NJSHA prior to this date will be responsible for providing handouts to the attendees.
Description of Call for Papers Fields  
  Program Abstract:  The Program Abstract  is the direct copy for printing the abstracts.  It should be carefully prepared and proofread.  Material will not be edited; therefore, abstracts will reflect your writing skill.  The abstract should not exceed 650 characters.
  Learning Outcomes:  Learning Outcomes are behavioral statements reflecting the knowledge/skills participants are expected to demonstrate following participation in the session.  Learning Outcomes are written in the format, “At the culmination of the session the participant will be able to …” (e.g.,". … describe the function of the swallowing station.”  “…list three considerations in selecting candidates for cochlear implants.”) Click here for guidelines for Writing Measurable and Observable Learner Outcomes
  Instructional Levels:  All presentations must indicate level of instruction utilizing the following descriptions:
Introductory: This level assumes the audience has little or no familiarity with the literature and professional practice with the areas covered.
Intermediate: This level assumes the audience has general familiarity with the literature and professional practice with the area covered. 
Advanced: This level assumes total familiarity with current literature and professional practice in the area.  
  Biographical Sketches of All Presenters:  Biographical sketches include the name of the presenters, their affiliations (i.e., practice settings), and a brief description of their qualifications for presenting the proposed session,.  (Note:  Biographical Sketches are not vitae or resumes, but are brief narratives of no more than 50 words.)

Submission of the Call for Papers indicates acceptance of the policies outlined above for convention registration, program content, and agreement for not using the presentation as a method for selling products.

NJSHA Understands that many proposals represent the work of several individuals.  In a few cases, all of the authors of the proposal cannot attend the convention. Please check if the individual listed will not be able to attend the convention.
